Full Sail Ahead
Story by Roger Woodcock, News Post Leader May 21
2003
A group
of youngsters plan to set sail to develop their leadership
and communication skills. Newbiggin children attending Hirst
High School at Ashington will take part in two sailing trips
organised by the Ocean Youth Club North East - a division
of the Ocean Youth Trust - with help from the Newbiggin Regeneration
Community Partnership.
Lynemouth
based Alcan Smelting and Power UK are helping them on their
way aboard the Ocean Youth Club Ketch with a donation of £550.
Mike Goodman,
Chairman of the Regeneration Partnership, said: "Young
people in the village will benefit greatly from this experience.
"The voyages will not only enhance their special skills
but raise their aspirations as well."
Vaun Campbell
of Alcan said: "It is rewarding to be part of something
so special. By supporting the Ocean Youth Club Ketch we are
giving young people the chance to develop important skills
for their future."
