The
Heritage Visitor Centre
Newbiggin's own local history centre, situated at the Northern
end of the promenade, hosts a permanent exhibition of local
information and artefacts.
Visit
the centre to see and hear exhibits on subjects such as the
fishing community, mining, brass band history, cobles and
boats, the people, the lifeboat, our schools and Christian
heritage.
The
main aim of the centre is to preserve the heritage of Newbiggin,
and to instill a sense of pride in our community through all
generations of visitors.
The Newbiggin
by the Sea Heritage Visitor Centre is staffed by volunteers.
Open throughout the summer season, admission is free, Wednesdays,
Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays 1pm - 4pm, but opening times
may vary, or can be arranged specially for groups at other
times..
