The lifeboat station at Newbiggin is the oldest operational boathouse in the British Isles and Ireland, and in 2001 we celebrated our 150th anniversary. Now in 2010 we are approaching 160 years of lifesaving.

Visitors are welcome to the lifeboat house on Sundays between 10am and 5pm where there are displayed many artifacts to do with the history of Newbiggin and it's lifeboat house; and there is often the opportunity to see the lifeboat and crew at exercise in the Bay.
