27th July 2014.
Newbiggin's Blessing of the Lifeboat service on Sunday 20th July signalled the countdown to the following weekend's lifeboat day.
The very popular 'Blessing' took place in the lifeboat station with a large congregation and the service undertaken by Newbiggin lifeboat Chaplain Reverend Peter Sinclair. The lifeboat blessing is an established tradition in the lifeboat calender here with the service very much as a preamble to the following weekend's Lifeboat Day.
Newbiggin Lifeboat Day gets underway on Sunday 27th at 1.30pm with a variety of stalls and attractions in and around the lifeboat station. There will be displays and demonstrations undertaken by the lifeboat subject to operational demands throughout the afternoon. Additionally a Sea King helicopter from RAF Boulmer is scheduled to visit Newbiggin Bay during the afternoon and again subject to operational demands you will be able to see it in operation.
For those wishing to enjoy a selection of home made cakes and scones the boathouse will be serving these along with hot and cold drinks.
Throughout the afternoon live music will be performed on the adjacent sea front.
Please come along and give us your support for our major fundraising day. There is ample free parking at Church Point next to Newbiggin Maritime Centre.
