Newbiggin
by the Sea, situated in the county of Northumberland lies halfway between Tynemouth and the Scottish
Borders on the northeast coast of England. Over the years Newbiggin
has seen it's share of extreme weather conditions.
Conditions in the N.E.coastal waters can be as bad as anything in the world, especially when the equinox tides coincide with a strong northeasterly gale.
Newbiggin by the sea was chosen as an ideal site for a lifeboat as it has a small protected south-facing bay with easy access into the North Sea.
The Atlantic75 can be launched very quickly into Newbiggin bay and is well suited for the role of coastal water rescue and assistance operations. |
